Reliability Concepts Announces New B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool® With Patent-Pending Design and Cross-Firing Laser Technology For Faster, More Accurate Alignments

Coldwater, MI – January 13, 2014 – Michael Olszewski, President of Reliability Concepts, announced today the launch of the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool® Green Laser Belt Alignment System, a completely revolutionary new green laser system for belt alignment that uses Cross-Firing Green Lasers and dual GlowLine® Targets for the most accurate belt alignment possible. Available in 3 configurations and fully upgradeable, the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool promises to change the way belt alignment is performed throughout the maintenance and reliability community, making belt alignments faster, easier, and more accurate.

After discovering that conventional multi target laser systems have a degree of error, Mike Olszewski began to evaluate a new belt alignment solution that resolved this error involved with conventional laser belt alignment systems. As a maintenance professional with over 25 years of industrial experience, as well as being an experienced Category III Vibration Analyst, Mr. Olszewski set out to develop a belt alignment system that is not only accurate, fast, intuitive, and easy to use – but also corrected the error introduced when using conventional laser belt alignment systems. “The B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool has made belt alignment more reliable, since our patent-pending cross-firing technology eliminates the error introduced from single laser belt alignment systems,” said Olszewski. “And at only $2195.00 for a dual-laser B.A.T. When asked about the error he’s experienced with single laser belt alignment systems, and how the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool resolves this issue, Olszewski explained, “On several occasions, I noticed that even after performing a belt alignment when using a conventional single laser belt system, that the machinery still showed high vibration and misalignment. When reversing the laser to the opposite sheave, I found that the laser completely missed the targets of this single laser system – even though the alignment had already been performed. The answer became apparent – using a cross-firing dual green laser system and large, arcing targets, it would show both sheaves at the same time and remove the error introduced when using a single laser belt alignment system.”

With extensive research, experimentation, and field-testing, the design of the B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool was realized. The true value of the system is its accuracy and intuitive operation, as it quickly becomes apparent when using the B.A.T. that as the user is making corrections and moving the machine, cross-firing lasers are essential. This is due to the fact that there are two planes, both with angular and offset values, and users will need to see the effect of the move on both sheaves at the same time. The B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool™ solution is also able to perform simple flatness measurements by using the bulls-eye level and targets. The B.A.T. Belt Alignment Tool™ can also detect defects, as it is virtually impossible to line up both lasers on the GlowLine targets if the pulley or shaft is bent, if the shaft is worn, or if other defects exist such as a broken, worn, or poorly installed taper-locking device.

The B.A.T.
